The area where the 
Mississippi and Illinois rivers
Merge together near Grafton
in Jersey county has a lot to
offer for the boating
community as well as tourists
and historians.
The 8,000-acre Marquette
State Park
is famous for its
massive stone lodge and
scenic hiking paths. Nearby
Elsah is a partially restored
river town reminiscent of the
quiet life. There is a seperated
bicycle route 13 miles long
extending from Alton to
Grafton that runs along The
Great River road.
 

      The boats begin to gather on the sand bar at Royal
